Maison de Philomene (once a bar in a previous life) offers a very comfortable 210 metre square (2260 ft square) of internal luxury living space.  Respectively restored the house retains a wealth of original features.  Traditional techniques such as lime rendering and hand crafted carpentry add to the original mood and feel the house deserves, so often lost in modern renovations.

The carefully planned design ensures a perfect holiday for family and friends.  The open plan ground floor provides a lovely friendly area to enjoy cooking, eating or just relaxing.  Wander through the connecting French doors onto the terrace and pool area.  Enjoy the restful surroundings offered inside and out.

The current owners, Adrian & Denise, live on site in the separate Victorian quarters, the two windows to the right of the picture.  We are on hand to offer guests help and advice.  Having our own private garden area enables us to remain in the background so that guests are not unduly disturbed during their holiday.  We also have domestic cats who patrol the garden so Maison de Philomene is not suitable for pets.

GROUND FLOOR

SEJOUR – SALLE A MANGER

Soak in the atmosphere of a classic French country house with traditional high beamed ceilings and coloured lime rendered walls.  Nod off lounging in the deep leather chesterfield sofas next to the log burning stove.

Cuisine
The open archway connects directly with the kitchen area.  The Kitchen, rustic in design, is fully equipped with modern conveniences. A large island unit, incorporating a breakfast bar, is ideal for preparing any fresh local cuisine.  Authentic slate flagstone flooring and hand built, reclaimed solid oak, units make this a very homely area with a delightful ambience.

Off to the right of the kitchen is a functional utilities room and entrance lobby which leads through to the outside terrace. This also has an additional WC handy for the pool.

The character winding chestnut staircase, which leads off the living dining area, has been rebuilt using the limited amount of good timber from the original flooring.  In keeping floors have been replaced with solid oak and chestnut.

Chambre ‘Chenille’ (caterpillar)
An easy to access double bedroom, traditional in many French homes. Chenille is enchanting with a mixture of Breton and classic French furniture. The yellow limed rendered walls actually sparkle.  Chenille’s door opens directly from the living area providing very easy access with no step, so is ideal for anyone with limited mobility.
